Difference between Bit, Byte and Word

What is a bit?
Bit is a binary digit. It is a single digit in a binary system and it can be either be 1 or 0. 1 means Light is ON and 0 means Light is OFF.
What is byte?
By definition eight bits is equal to one byte. With 8 bits you can store 0 to 255 combinations of 0 and 1.

What is word?
Today you often hear about that 32 and 64 –bit computer architecture. A word is basically the number of bits a particular computer’s CPU can deal with in one go.
Word is also refer as amount of data that computer can access at a time.

1 Word = 16 bits or 2 bytes
